1979 DODGE ASPEN COUPE
Recent, mild restoration from a local MOPAR enthusiast who is selling to move onto other projects.
Recent re-paint,not show quality, but presents very well. Nice, original factory Chrysler panel gaps. Rear trunk / deck lid does have significant rust decay near inner truck latch area. Factory vinyl roof does show signs of rust bubbling, including cracking / tears in the vinyl top. Original, factory chrome / brightwork does show age along with pitting on bumpers. All of the glass appears to original and in good shape with factory Chrysler stamping on the glass. Rear , plastic trunk trim is cracked.
Interior appears very clean and original. Working gauges, dash lights, signals and horn. Working HVAC controls ( AC is intact, but does not work ? ) . Radio, turns on, but poor reception. Original dash pad in good shape, but shows age. Very nice door panels with working door handles and window operation. Original seats show light wear with a few minor tears. Working seatbelts with original belts.
*Believed To Be* original powertrain ! Slant 6cyl starts right up and settles to smooth idle. Good power with smooth shifts from the column shifter which engages easily. Aspen runs, drives, shifts, tracks and brakes as it should- although, current owner replaced the brake booster, somehow the actual brake pedal sticks and has to be pulled back up with foot to release the brakes, it also causes the brake lights to stay on when car is shut off, so brake pedal has to released with foot.
All evidence shows that the Aspen may be an original 18,000 mile car, sadly, the State of Delaware DMV zero’s out the miles on the title on vehicles over 10 years old if not continuously tracked by the previous owners…
If you’re looking for a “turn-key” MOPAR to take to cruise nights or to modify into something else - you found your new ride ! Video’s on the “tube” show start up and walk around: 1979 Dodge Aspen for sale / Jay Brown
