Vehicle Description
The short version: This is an extremely well maintained example of a very unique vehicle, a 6-speed manual transmission minivan! The roof rack with bicycle and snowboard attachments, Weathertech floor mats + trunk liner, and original silver wheels with a brand new set of all seasons are included in the sale. I am not looking to sell them separately unless the vehicle sells first and the buyer doesn’t want them. If the listing is up, this vehicle is available. I’m selling because I recently got a deal I couldn’t pass up on a new truck and I don’t need both vehicles.
The long version:
*Unique aspects of the Mazda5*
The mazda5 is big on the inside and small on the outside. It’s a 6 passenger vehicle that is shorter bumper to bumper than most sedans. This makes it the ultimate practical vehicle.
- Need a family hauler? Flip all 6 seats up and load them in! I’m 5’10” and I fit comfortably in the 3rd row seats.
- Need to fit into some tight city parking or a small garage? No problem!
- Need to move something large? A twin XL bed fits in the back. Need to fit something larger? The seats are easily unbolted and removed. With the seats out, the space inside is cavernous.
- Want to go on an adventure? Load your bikes & snowboard up top, put your blow up mattress over the fold-flat seats, and get 28mpg highway all over the country in your mini-camper! As an added bonus, the sound deadening I installed in the doors and floor will make this the quietest mazda5 you’ll ever find!
- Want to go racing? Well, I’d recommend a different car, I use a miata… that said, I can send you a picture of a Mazda5 going through the corkscrew at Laguna Seca… multiple people in the Mazda5 owner’s group on FB track these things. Hilarious, but possible! Incidentally the 2.5 liter motor in this van is also a popular “big block” engine swap into miatas.
*Maintenance History*
I have done all of the expensive big ticket maintenance items a vehicle typically needs around 100,000 miles:
- The original alloy wheels have a new set of General Altimax Rt43 tires ( currently at 8 to 9/32nd tread depth). The snow tires are at ~50% life (7 to 8/32nds).
- Kilmat 80 mil Sound Deadening installed in doors and floor.
- New KYB Excel-G shocks at 122,000 miles.
- Installed new OEM clutch disk + pressure plate, throw out bearing, and input shaft bearing, rear main seal, and transmission fluid at 123,000 miles.
- New OEM transmission mount (a common problem on these) at 125,000 miles.
- Brake master cylinder replaced and complete brake fluid flush at 128,000 miles.
- Oil changed with Mobil 1 synthetic, a new crush washer, and a premium oil filter every 5,000 miles.
- Paint was waxed and rain-X applied to the windows every 6 months.
- Brakes are at ~50% life. I’ve mostly done highway miles in this car, so it has barely used any brake pad in the time I’ve owned it.
- The next maintenance item needed is likely going to be the battery. It’s still working completely fine, but it’s 5 years old and batteries typically only last 5-7 years.
