1970 MERCEDES-BENZ 280 SE 3.5 COUPE --Midnight Blue with Cognac leather interior, Brown carpeting, 3.5 Liter V8 with a Rare 4-Speed Manual Transmission. Building upon the new-generation upscale Mercedes-Benz models launched for 1965, the V-8 powered 280 SE 3.5 debuted in late 1969 with just 4,502 of these masterpieces built, mostly by hand. This 3.5 Coupe was sold new in Italy and remained there until it was imported into the U.S. in 1986, detailed by its customs letter. As a European-spec model, this 280 SE was optioned with the rare 4-speed manual transmission that was not offered here in the U.S. Some reports have less than 300 of these 3.5 Coupes being produced with this 4-speed manual transmission. Showing just 85,000 Kilometers (53,000 miles) from new, this 3.5 Coupe is an excellent running example that presents well throughout.
