Vehicle Description
1947 MG TC #106 Despite a body style dating back to before WWII and an engine that only produced 54 h.p., the MG TC had a profound effect on the American automotive scene and launched the sports car movement of the late 40s. Compared to the large, softly sprung, and underpowered American cars of the period, the MG TC offered spritely handling and performance. This is a handsomely restored and AACA award winning example of the famous MG TC. The inline 4 cylinders XPAG engine is 1250cc mated to a 4-speed floor mounted gearbox. Top speed was some 75 mph, which was fine given the chassis and the drum brakes of the era. All TCs produced were right hand drive. This car has an extra set of special 19-inch wire wheels as used at Sebring. It also features rare front and rear bumpers, most TCs were delivered with no protection front or rear. Further enhancing this TC are the Brooklands windscreens for use when the windshield is folded down The flowing fender lines, fold down windshield and slab gas tank with rear mounted spare combined with the tall wire wheels were in striking contrast to U.S. automotive styling of the period. Notably, this special TC comes complete with owners' manual and original tool kit as well as a wooden dipstick for use as your fuel gage. This is truly an award winning MG TC in excellent condition that shows why the TC had such a major impact in this country.
