Vehicle Description
1991 Lexus LS400
Excellent mechanical shape
Due to scammers, emails without a phone number will be ignored. Sorry to the non-scammers.
The car is READY TO GO. Extremely reliable. Price dropped for quick sale - I have too many cars.
Discounted further for VETERANS.
Original owner was my father in law, bought new in 1991 in SoCal. We got it in 2007. Selling now just because we have too many cars. Original window sticker in photos.
No accidents. Exceptionally well maintained. Clean and clear title. California car since day 1 (SoCal from 1991-2008; Redwood Shores since then).
Color is officially Black Jade Pearl, 6K4. It looks almost black, but in direct sunlight, looks dark green metallic.
Photos were taken on 10/15/19. The hood, front bumper, right front fender, side cladding, rear bumper and wheels have been sprayed with plastidip. There was clear coat flaking on the hood and right front fender, and this was an effective way to cover that. Can be peeled off if you want the car painted. Or you can plastidip the remaining panels to match. Or leave it as is, which would be my choice. As it is with the color, in most lighting, the color matches throughout. In bright sunlight, the green in the paint shows.
V8, 4.0 liter, 32 valves, 4 cams, rear wheel drive, 4-speed automatic.
Some highlights of the repairs and maintenance:
new struts / strut mounts / bellows / bumpers on all four wheels
new engine and transmission mounts
recent new valve cover gaskets and spark plug tube seals
recent rebuilt alternator
rebuilt power steering pump
updated with 16" wheels from a Lexus SC400
new radiator and hoses
new fuel pump
battery new in 2017
most front suspension bushings and ball joints have been replaced
AC blows cold, freshly recharged
tinted windows
new custom seat covers on front two seats, wheelskins leather steering wheel cover
Needs, imperfections:
- 2 rear tires have very little tread left, but the wear is even (see mention of V8 above). Tires solid, but will have little traction in the rain.
- instrument panel - tachometer and speedometer do not read accurately. A swap from a salvage yard is recommended to fix both. Odometer and all other gauges work fine. Airbag light is on due to attempted instrument panel swap (replacement turned out to have bad gauges as well).
- minor engine oil leak
Runs and drives perfectly. Will easily make it to 300k miles or more, as many of these first-generation Lexus cars do.
Most records and most receipts since new. Original tool kit and first aid kit included, as shown in photos. Full size spare tire on original rim.
I'm in the SF Bay Area, about 20 minutes south of SFO.
